This is what I know about art- Jayden Battle

"As a former math major, I did the calculations: I was not confident enough, polished enough, or anything enough to have been selected. Everything I knew about myself reminded me that I was, if not an impostor, a fraud."-Drew, Page 16.

This quote shows emotions that all young adults go through, even when we get accepted for a great opportunity. We can second guess ourselves even when we know we are great; Kimberly Drew is now a notable figure even though she started her journey lacking confidence. This is a constant reminder to never give up and chase your dreams.

"In my life, I have made a point of telling stories of triumph. I have had to fight so many battles to succeed that I want to maintain an agency with how my story is told."-Drew, Page 28.

This is an extremely inspirational quote that can show readers success will come no matter how many times you fail. We are all able to take over our hardships and rewrite our story.

"I wrote angry tweets about the lack of diversity, and by the end of the weekend, I had fielded interviews with a local art blog and The Huffington Post. By Monday, word had gotten back to the Studio Museum, and yet again I was called into a superior’s office for something that I’d shared on social media."- Drew, Page 43.

Controversy can bring publicity, and this publicity can be life changing. Kimberly Drew was brave enough to make tweets that most people would be scared to make, and it ended with her name getting attention. Now, her boss seen these tweets and spoke to her about her actions, but it wasn't in an angry way, it was just telling her to move smarter. This is a prime example of using your voice and taking risks.

Hank Willis Thomas, Scarred Chest (2003).
This artwork is interesting because the scars resemble a Nike logo. This can show the negatives of idolizing brands, and how people can view brands deeper than clothing.

Defunding the Department of Education isn't making an example to the left, it's ruining life for everybody!
No DOE = less money for poor schools
No DOE = a financial aid, student loan crisis
NO DOE = Less diversity in schooling all across the country
No DOE = states making up insane rules that do more bad than good.
LET'S MAKE COLLEGE MORE UNAFFORADBLE AND EVEN LESS ATTAINABLE, GREAT IDEA!
#SAVETHESCHOOLS
By the way, this man above has a bachelor's degree, but he wants to defund schools...
