Quote #1: “We can’t isolate ourselves from the very people. We hope to persuade. We need a majority of people on our side if there is to be substantial and sustainable change”
Short response: I like this quote because it shows that to make real change we shouldn’t isolate those who disagree with our world view or ideals, but instead try to properly respectfully inform and engage with them and bring people together rather then simply push them away.
Quote #2: “we all know that marketing is manipulation. It feels capitalism through excessive consumption, fostering dissatisfaction and destroying the Earth. But we have tremendous respect for the intelligence and artistry of marketers, despite being horrified by what the marketing industry uses these talents for. Like so much else about commercial culture, we don't need to like it, but as artistic activists we do need to learn from it.”
Short response: Rather then simply ignoring things we know are problems, and being angry at it we should work towards learning about them. Learning about these things so we can best combat them in a respectful and legal manner.
