Draft Proposal Project - Dio Stanfill-Evans

I want this project to be something intense, but clear. What I have come up with is this:

I and three volunteers, in hoodies, put on a dinosaur mask, reach into a bloodied doll with paper guts, and pull out a note. The volunteers will then read out the paper which will have the most intense and impactful crimes that oligarch committed.

I will supply the dinosaur mask and purchase a blank sock doll where I will then place a crown on its head and tape each oligarchs head on it.

Once all of the notes are read, the three volunteers and I will grab each opening of the doll and tear it apart, showing how justice can only be given if people organize and work together. The volunteers must have angry faces when tearing the doll apart, the one wearing the mask must be in the middle.

There is one detail however. After we read out their greatest crimes, the volunteer must look towards the audience and say "How do the people plead?". Regardless of their answer being guilty or not guilty, the scenario will continue to play out where the doll is ripped apart.

To add more details, I would like an audio of factory workers working, people protesting, and dinosaurs bellowing playing in the background of everything (I will create this audio on my own and share it with the professor)

I was inspired by the performance piece "Transfiguration" by Olivier De Sagazan

It is a disturbing performance to watch but it has always stuck with me as something so profoundly terrifying. Ever since I was a kid, I would look into my dark closet and imagine seeing Oliviers face, covered in clay, blood, hair and with a distorted facial expression. I hope to chanel some of that disturbing sight in my piece (towards the end)

Another piece I was inspired by was Kathy Griffin's controversial photo of her holding the severed head of Donald Trump. I remember this event causing MASSIVE backlash against her and how she had to stay out of public eye for a little while. I think doing this was a massive risk and I respect her for that risk. I want to take that risk when doing this performance.
