Nishae W 10/8 midterm proposal

In order to create an intervention, you need to bring attention to the topic/issue and make it present.

My pitch:

A presentation talking about the importance and root factors of AI abuse. AI is not only extremely helpful, but it is also just as, if not more, dangerous. Throughout time— especially in this age— AI is prone to being overly misused; many are only now beginning to see the harm it holds-- but now, while we are still able to, we should come up with a solution to fight back against the upcoming changes being enforced.

Humans see humanity in everything. You see it in our craft and design.. Even in our newest robot models, they all have human faces.

My intervention will be a simple slide presentation, but I want it to be active and give the listeners a chance to partake in the discussion. I'll be adding a segment called: Real or AI? AI is only becoming more resourceful... if we cannot tell it apart from reality now, then I fear for the future.

Toward a cultural activism

"Western art-- it's a white male thing."

"I have coined the term 'curatorial activists' to describe those individuals who have committed themselves to a 'counter hegemonic initiatives'"

Reilly argues that curators should act as activists by reshaping the museum narratives to include diverse artists. Curating becomes a tool for equality and change.

What is curatorial activism?

"It's a practice that commits itself to counter-hegemonic initiatives."

"organizing exhibits to ensure that artists are no longer ghettoized or excluded"

She explains that cultural activism is about the fair representation of all parties, not just about adding diversity. It's supposed to be a tool to redefine who's seen and remembered throughout art history.
