Chapter 5 - Cognition
Quote: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
Response: This quote is very interesting for me. It refers to what do you wish to change in this world you wish to see.
Quote: "Conveying the facts about youth incarceration in the form of a sympathetic story would increase the chance that people who would otherwise ignore us would listen, and we could begin the process of forging new connections between factual input and cognitive meanings."
Response: This talks about Redemption, which is one of Houston's Activist, and it talks about how can conveying facts about the youth incarceration in the form of a sympathetic story would make people, who would otherwise ignore, listen to the story. All in all, as artistic activists, they need to write some good stories and even become good storytellers.
Performance Art Activism
Title: Your Fond Memories
In this performance, this involves around drawing something on what's on your mind, describing what part of your memory do you fondly remember. In order to do this performance, you first need a drawing tool, any drawing tool would do. You can either draw it on a piece of paper, your drawing book, a whiteboard, a chalkboard, or anything you have available to you to draw. Once you have gotten the necessary drawing tools, you can begin the process. First, stop and think about what's on your mind. Think about what kind of Fond memory did you love and cherish in your life. Second, describe that said memory you loved and cherished on what it is about. Lastly, sketch and draw what you've described about your cherished past memory that you remembered. It doesn't have to be colored. The goal of this process is for people to reminisce and look back at the memory they loved. It's easy to set up, since all you need is any drawing tool (ex: a Pencil, Pen, Marker, or a Paintbrush.) and anything you could draw on. (Ex: Paper, Whiteboard, Sketchbook, or a drawing pad.)
