Proposal Project Post:
Performance Art Piece: “The Line We Walk”
A strip of tape divides the room into “What I Learned Early” and “What I Choose Now.” I’ll walk slowly along the tape, trying to balance, whenever I step off the line, I’ll place a sticky note on that side. Audience members are invited to write their own beliefs and place them on the floor. As the notes stack up the room will be filled with emotion. Inherited beliefs and chosen ones. When the floor has enough notes, I’ll step onto the “What I Choose Now” side and then end the performance. My inspiration: Isabel Leon, she has used tape in her performances, taping herself to the wall and later in the performance detaching herself from the wall and falling to the floor with help from the audience. After that she joins herself to the audience using the remaining tape from her body. I’ll take photos of the notes and the tape, I’ll do it with friends/family in my house.
