“If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated.” - Carter G. Woodson.

Response: What he meant is that if a race has no history, it stands in the danger of becoming exterminated. As much as I agree with Kimberly Drew, Black Art should not be exterminated nor should it be a negligible factor. In fact, it should be remembered by people in which they can learn about it.

“If I were an African American, I would see white guilt as equally as offensive as outright racism.” -Kimberly's Professor

Response: This reflects on the argument about White Guilt. His point that her professor was pointing out is that both White Guilt and Outright Racism are both bad, because both of these done harm to African American people.

“If there is one thing that you can do, leave something for somebody else . . . You can work for somebody else’s freedom. You can leave something for somebody else’s child.” - Thornton Dial

Response: This emphasizes the importance of using one's life and work to improve and leave a legacy for future generations, especially for the one's who are oppressed, like Thornton Dial was influenced by Martin Luther King Jr. for example.

The Lesson of Falling Leaves

This artwork I would talk about is about "The Lesson of Falling Leaves", which was created by Amy Sherald. It interests me, because she make the figure in a grayscale against a monochrome background to evoke a feeling of timelessness and individuality. This art interests me, because of the use of the grayscale color for the figure to pop out from the colored background. She uses grayscale to paint on skin tones as a way to challenge the concept of color-as-race.

The Tumblr post I would like to make to help with my research would be about the problems about Corporate Greed. This will talk about the facts and problems about Corporate Greed that is going around in other companies, like Disney for example. It will show people the effects of Corporate Greed, where some companies lead their focus on profits and financial gain, instead of caring about the ethical responsibilities, the employees, consumers, and even the environment.
